The Broadside

The Broadside opened in October 2020 at 600 N. Broad Street in Mid-City as a direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, when its sister venue, the Broad Theater cinema next door, needed a way to present live entertainment outdoors. What began as a stopgap evolved into a permanent indoor/outdoor music venue with two stages, two bars, and a full-service sit-down restaurant operating seven days a week. The open-air layout offers a relaxed, neighborhood-level atmosphere for live music, film screenings, fundraisers, and cultural events that draws a Mid-City crowd distinct from the Frenchmen Street circuit. After navigating city permitting challenges and voluntary renovations in 2021, the Broadside has settled into its role as one of New Orleans' most distinctive pandemic-era venues that earned a lasting place in the city's music ecosystem.
