Originally opened in 1926 as a movie palace on El Camino Real, the Guild Theatre was reborn in 2022 after a $35 million renovation that preserved only the two original side walls while rebuilding everything else from scratch. The result is a state-of-the-art 500-standing, 200-seated live music venue with three-tiered standing room, a seated mezzanine, two full bars, and a Meyer Sound system fed through 9,000 acoustic holes in the ceiling. Peninsula residents Drew Dunlevie, Pete Briger, and Thomas Layton funded the conversion, creating a mid-sized room that fills a gap between club shows and arena concerts on the Peninsula. The Guild books indie rock, folk, jazz, and national touring acts in a space where every seat feels close to the stage.
