The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music is a cultural hub in the Upper Ninth Ward, named for the legendary New Orleans jazz pianist and educator. Located in the heart of Musicians Village — a community built by Habitat for Humanity and New Orleans Area Habitat Musicians Village after Hurricane Katrina — the center hosts intimate concert series featuring local legends, emerging talent, and everything in between. Programming includes the Booker & Beyond Piano Series and curated events that celebrate the deep musical heritage of New Orleans while ensuring fair compensation for local artists.
