Independent SF

The Independent opened in 2004 at a Divisadero Street address with decades of music history. The building previously housed The Half Note, Kennel Club, and other clubs that helped shape San Francisco's rock scene. Today it's a 500-capacity room with state-of-the-art sound, perfect sightlines, and minimal decoration. The focus is entirely on the performance. Another Planet Entertainment books the venue, bringing a mix of emerging artists and intimate shows from established acts. Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem, Bon Iver, and Lizzo all played early career shows here. Green Day, Beck, and Dave Chappelle have performed for crowds that would normally fill arenas.
