Rickshaw Stop

Rickshaw Stop occupies a 4,000-square-foot former TV studio in the Civic Center area, a quirky space that's been hosting eclectic programming since 2004. The room has a balcony, a decent-sized stage, and capacity for about 400 people. The booking defies easy categorization: indie rock, electronic, comedy, drag shows, dance parties, and community events all share the calendar. The space retains some of its studio origins, with high ceilings and an industrial feel that works well for the venue's anything-goes approach. There's a full bar, some couches for lounging, and a disco ball that gets regular use. It's the kind of place where you might see an up-and-coming band one night and a burlesque show the next. The staff embraces the weird, which is very San Francisco.
