Co-founded by Ken Kieffer and William Moxham in 2020, Woodhouse Blending & Brewing is a craft brewery on Madrone Street in Santa Cruz that became an unlikely live music hub. Outdoor shows began in 2021 as a pandemic-era draw for customers in the industrial neighborhood, and by 2023 the brewery was hosting four to five acts a week, earning a local NEXTies award for Hip Hang Out of the Year. An anonymous complaint briefly shut down the music program over permit issues, but in late 2024 the Santa Cruz City Council unanimously upheld planning approval for live performances. Woodhouse is one of only two dedicated outdoor music venues in the city.
