Perched in the Saratoga hills, The Mountain Winery traces its origins to 1905 when French-born winemaker Paul Masson established his "Vineyard in the Sky." The property survived the 1906 earthquake, Prohibition, and decades of dormancy before a 2,500-seat amphitheater was built on the grounds in 1958. The stage backdrop features 12th-century Spanish cathedral doors salvaged from a collapsed church, lending a dramatic architectural flourish to sunset concerts. Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, B.B. King, Diana Ross, Willie Nelson, and Ringo Starr have all performed against the vineyard panorama, making the Summer Concert Series one of the South Bay's signature seasonal traditions.
