The original HopMonk location, opened in 2008 by Gordon Biersch co-founder Dean Biersch, occupies a rustic 115-year-old stone and timber building in downtown Sebastopol with an outdoor beer garden and a dedicated listening room called the Abbey. The Abbey holds approximately 225 guests and is known for warm acoustics, clear sightlines, and a close-to-the-stage feel that suits the folk, Americana, blues, and indie acts booked there. Free live music runs Thursday through Sunday in the beer garden, where fire pits and shade trees set the scene for open-air sets. With over 16 craft beers on tap and a full food menu, HopMonk Sebastopol captures the Sonoma County ethos of good beer, local food, and live music under one roof.
