Built by wine patriarch August Sebastiani and opened in 1934, this Italian Renaissance-style theater sits directly on Sonoma's historic town plaza. The ornate 500-seat house originally screened films but now presents an eclectic mix of live music, musical theater, ballet, opera, and cinema under the stewardship of a nonprofit foundation. Programming ranges from touring singer-songwriters to classic film screenings, with the grand interior and Sonoma wine country setting lending every performance a sense of occasion. The Sebastiani remains the cultural anchor of the plaza, drawing audiences from across the valley.
