House of Blues New Orleans opened in January 1994 at 225 Decatur Street in the French Quarter, the flagship location of the chain co-founded by Isaac Tigrett and Dan Aykroyd. Dr. John headlined the grand opening alongside a newly formed Blues Brothers Band with Aykroyd sitting in. The 24,000-square-foot facility houses a main music hall with a capacity of roughly 1,000, an upscale Foundation Room VIP lounge, and a full-service restaurant serving Southern and globally inspired cuisine. A 2022 renovation refreshed the interiors while preserving the folk art-covered walls and Delta juke-joint aesthetic that distinguish the brand. Now operated by Live Nation, the venue books national touring acts nightly across rock, hip-hop, R&B, and roots music, making it one of the French Quarter's highest-volume concert rooms.
